Powerline Networking
Simply,
HomePlug™ is the technology that
connects devices to each other through
the power lines in your home or office.
HomePlug-certified products connect PCs
and other devices that use Ethernet, USB
and 802.11 "Wi-Fi" technologies to the
powerline via a HomePlug "bridge" or
"adapter." In all, this technology
provides a simple solution for
distributing connectivity around the
home without adding any new wires.
LukWerks use of HomePlug technology is
the power behind the system's incredible
ease of setup. Each Luk Camera is
connected by an Ethernet cable to a
standard electrical outlet. Because of
this, there is no need to configure the
Luk Camera; nor is there a need to
install or configure any wireless
routers or other networking equipment.
Neither does the consumer have to
purchase any additional wires, or
re-wire their home in order to
implement. LukWerks is simply a
ladder-less and drill-free setup.
Besides the ease of setup, using
HomePlug Technology also allows the
camera to pass secure video data over
existing power lines to the adapter,
which then passes the information to the
computer.
Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)
UPnP™
technology makes home networking simple
and affordable. With UPnP, a device can
dynamically join a network, obtain an IP
address, convey its capabilities, and
learn about the presence and
capabilities of other devices,
automatically. This enables "zero
configuration" networks. Furthermore,
devices can subsequently communicate
with each other directly, thereby
enabling peer-to-peer networking. Behind
this functionality is a robust UPnP
device architecture, a standards-based
technology for transparent network
device connectivity. What this means is
that the technology allows devices to
work nearly immediately upon being
plugged into the network. This truly
eliminates the administrative hassle
associated with networking devices. UPnP
technology indeed reduces the complexity
for everyone, whether they are
technically-savvy or not. Using the
standards-based UPnP technology, Werks
automatically identifies each of your
cameras almost as quickly as you can
plug them into the wall. Once connected
to your cameras, you can control each
camera's resolution, recording
schedules, and a camera's specific
alerts. Even more, Werks actively
monitors and records up to six Luk
Cameras. Once images are saved by Werks,
you can quickly review the video by
month, day, hour, and camera.
